Wow you ARE a busy catterpillar!

I have to say why Reno always ends up in prostitution rings is beyond me. The market for rent boys is nowhere near as big or barbaric as it is for female sex slaves, and for a male the most obvious underworld problems they get involved in are gangs and drug dealing, which go hand in hand. I never really found Reno as a male prostitute that believable, in the context of being 'forced into a life of crime' etc. etc.

Well I have to announce that... it's in the works. Yes, the Mulan fic is officially in progress. The sig confirms it. I've banked about 4000k and a roughish first chapter methinks, and I'm settling down to do a big chunk more tonight.

I wasn't sure at first, but I re-read everything I've done up to now and was actually pretty pleased with it. Somehow I managed to give Mushu lines that are funny. Which is odd. I have this habit of writing funny things then COMPLETLEY forgetting I ever wrote them. (Putting a section of this up in 'Pimp it')

I've also decided on things like antagonists to emerge, ways to start the tension between Mulan-Ping and Shang, and other crazy happenstances to occur soon. SO YAY FOR ME.

I rechecked this old rag. If I recall, I did it as part of a challenge. I don't think it's very good. Being a one-shot over 10,000 words, it demands an overhaul.

I envisioned it to be a series of stories. It ends on a murky note that screams sequel, or conversion to full-blown chapter fic, so I have decided to do just that. Here's my synopsis:

Tseng dispatches Reno and Rude to Edge City to quell the Remnants of Sephiroth, who reappear one-and-a-half years after they're presumed dead. During their brawl with Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz, they encounter their new mother... the dead Cetra Aerith! She is most displeased with them picking fights with children and messing with her mission to stop Delita, a super-violent bastard from another planet, from wreaking havoc upon Edge City.

Hence, Reno and Rude help Kadaj beat Delita. The Remnants return to Aerith and Delita disappears, leaving his pendant behind. It serves as his phylactery, used by Liches to live forever; Delita is immortal. Amidst the fire rescue response (Downtown Edge is an inferno, thanks to Delita), Tseng absconds with it, a strange move on his part. Things get ass-backwards in Reno and Rude's minds.

After consulting with Tifa during one early, sleepless morning, Reno receives a call back to WRO HQ; he and Rude conduct clandestine ops for them. There, Reeve orders a remedial mission of rat-catching in Midgar City; there is enough Jenova pathogen to threaten Edge, whether or not they rebuild Midgar. WRO outsources mercenaries to assist, something neither party looks forward to. It tenses up more when their chopper gets clipped by a ground-to-air fireball.

They survive the crash, but a large contingent of magic-wielding horrors, called Blackram Knights, inhabit the city in their attempt to usurp Shinra technology and even city graveyards! Worse yet, Reno's insomnia stretches into hallucinations of watching the dead and hearing the planet's cries. He does not recall the source of this dilemma until later, thanks to the memory-suppressive effects of Junction Arts. Even Rude is hard-pressed to go along with his buddy's antics, but as Reno goes from shenanigans to suffering, he takes it upon himself to help his friend cope while also deciphering or perhaps stopping the Blackram's enigmatic purposes... living to tell the tale if necessary (possible).

I can disclose it as the cross-over it is (namely, FFVII and FFT, with a tinge of FFVIII). The common thread between all tends to be summons, or Guardian Forces. They are, in fact, interwoven into the cast. For added fun, I include a Black Mage whose persona is the same as in 8-Bit Theater.

Ya, I know exactly what you mean. It's basically why I screwed around with that idea a fair bit and made a bit of a twist slip into there. Hopefully everyone else finds it as refreshing as I did when I started writing it. xD

Oh you put a twist in? Glad to hear it! It's not that I hate to see certain things, I just don't really buy them when they're just stated as fact, with no background, like that's the most obvious thing to happen, you know?

It's like, someone just saying Reno was a male prostitue because DUH doesn't appeal to me, because I don't think that's the normal development of events so to claim them without explantion seems weak to me.

In comparison, say, Reno sells sex because his mother did and he was harassed by high, drunk customers of the former in his childhood, permanently f**king up the way he percieves sexuality and sex. Say he doesn't want to get mixed up in drugs or Mako, and finds that by carving a niche for himself in the prostitution industry (by beating the FECAL MATTER out of competitors) he can make good money and then later mug the bastards who underpay him. I don't see him being 'forced' into doing anything by anyone else. Make it angsty, make it one assest of a person fundamentally twisted who finds cruelty and human emotions a sick joke, and there you have my interest.

Ever since I saw Watchmen I've had this craving to do something portraying someone as a kind of Rorshach type character. Thus the above.

I'm up to 11k on the Mulan story in other news! It's still not posted anywhere, and I'm only working on the third chapter because each chapter as it's been happening is around 4k, as I want to get a decent amount of everything into it, but it's going. Hopefully I can tie this up well enough and then next chapter will be the mid-story peak. It's shaping up well, but at the same time I'm worried about it. I really want to do something good, so I'm terrfied of screwing it up.

Oh, Ronin! It's very cool of you to offer—but being Kaj is an awesome beta (and that story's going nowhere fast, ohoho), I actually don't need a second one. Thanks again for offering, though. <3

I currently have a coupla ideas that're almost ready to be typed...

My first is a kinda FF7 and Faustus thing. Not sure quite how it's gonna work, but Reno'll be Mephistopheles and Hojo'll be Faustus. ;)

My second thingy is more concrete; I want to do something on Reno growing up. I wanna make it gritty, but not overstep it and canonball off into cliché!Reno territory. I'm gonna write it in 1st person from his POV, and have it like scenes (mebbe five chapters, total) of important events. Like the first time he saw his neighbourhood the way outsiders saw it, the first time a friend of his got mugged, that sorta thing. I'll have the last chapter set some time after he's joined the Turks, and it'll tie things together, presumably with Reno taking revenge on those who made him see everything in a new light.

So yeah. A serious-ish piece. BUT I WILL TRY AND AVOID CHEESE. :)

About the Reno/Tifa story. I will attempt to make it as creative as possible, drawing on the many varied examples that I have to choose from. Wish me luck! (I have the first chapter and the...fifth chapter written, but it's going to take quite a while to get the plot straight.)

So this is a thread to say what your writing atm? Hmm..Well I'm working on my first one D: I already have a title for it if you can believe that >.> Its gonna be called: "Through Hell I'd walk for thy." It's gonna be a Clack fic, AU. I have a passion for AU fics like no one's business Dx. Anyways. It's main focus will be on Cloud and his, hmm, I wouldn't say depression, more like locked up emotions. He will be pretty angry at the beginning. Zack dies before the story starts. In which the story deals with people around Cloud having been not to keen on his and Zack's relationship, everyone save Aerith that is. Three childhood friends. And Cloud having doubts about where Zack is, meaning, where is he in terms of after death. The people around him arnt helping that matter. Is he siting cozy up in the pearly gates of Heaven, or is he in fact sitting in eternal damnation in Hell. Will focus on Clouds lingering doubts about their relationship and what it meant to Zack. Pretty much this whole story idea has been in my head for awhile now. I have a great fear of finding someone I love, and them dying and not knowing if they will be at peace or not and whether i will be able to live with that thought in mind. <.> This will deal with that in Cloud and Zack. Cloud will be put through major tests of will, fortitude, and overcoming of fears that would have stained his life forever. For he will in fact be walking through Hell for Zack. Cookies for anyone who gets my lousy explanation >.< ( I suck at them as it is) And thanks for hearing me out Dx now maybe I will actually get the ball rolling no that i have atlked about to people. -eye roll- Seems to have helped many times before.

It's one of the absolute worst thoughts you can have when you lose a lover, but it does come up, albeit unbidden sometimes, you're very right. It's also hard to deal with the thought that maybe you didn't tell them how much they meant to you enough, and stuff like that... But it happens...

ANYWAY, this sounds like an AWESOME idea. Can't wait to read it. :3

My current projects are numerous. I like to be busy so that my dissertation can be ignored for as long as possible

I'm writing a Sephiroth/Cloud multi-chapter (14/20 chapters down hurrah!), and am currently agonising over a Cloud/Elfe sex scene, cuz seriously, Elfe is a complete birch to write. And Cloud keeps on rebelling on me saying 'oh no, she's more scary than Zack and Seph put together!'.

I'm also writing a Venetian thief AU, Zack/Cloud, Seph/Cloud, which is more of a one shot uploaded in parts. On that one I'm stuck on Cloud's thief training XD

Two co-write projects in the works as well. A Victorian mystery AU in which Sephiroth and Angeal are investigating a series of bizarre murders in London which all seem to be linked to the newly rich Cloud Strife and the usual S/C timetravel fic, but with a twist that I'm not revealing yet .

Uh, yeah... I'm a glutton for punishment I think XD

I'm still working slowlyslowly on the ol' Mulan-io story. Banked 4 chapters and 18k, but I need to start sorting out the next developments and build up towards the end of the story. Might think about it later on a treadmil or something! XD

That's a lot of co-writes! I'll have a look for your co-write account. Mine is 'The Red Mages' and currently I only have my close friend on it (mostly because I know I can bully her into writing - I really hate it when co-writes end up with me doing 90% of the work because I write on average 4500 words a day while others write 200-500 ><).

Oh rub it in why don't you! XP I had to bully myself into writing 1000 words yesterday, it can be a lot harder than it seems T_T

I've done a few co-writes in the past but they were a long time ago, I've not really got together writingwise with anyone else for a year or two now.

I just plan well I think, that's why I get so many words down. My plans detail scene by scene what goes into each chapter so I blackmail myself into writing the boring stuff so I can write that awesome scene about two thirds through. It REALLY helps I find, to get the words on the page.
